The Iowa Writers’ Collaborative added two new members this past week. Please welcome Dana James, New Black Iowa News and Iowa Boy Chuck Offenburger to this week’s Roundup.
We also started our alliance between the Iowa Writers’ Collaborative (IWC) and the Iowa Capital Dispatch (ICD). Please subscribe to this hard-hitting local digital news site. They also will provide our commentary to Iowa newspapers. When one of our writers appears, it will include a link to the author’s Substack column.
Although it is not necessary to become paid subscribers to any of our ad-free publications, for those who can afford to, please know it can help our members keep writing. If you become a paid subscriber to this roundup, funds go to support our members via marketing and ensure our team has the tools they need to do this work.
In just 30 days, we have welcomed 292 subscribers, with 24 paid. That gives over $2500 toward marketing the Iowa Writers’ Collaborative. Thank you so much. Our columns are also experiencing a gratifying number of subscribers, some of whom are going over the suggested subscription amount.
It means our hunch is correct. Linking readers and writers directly will be a productive connection for all. There is a place for this kind of content.

I am Linda Kennedy from New Hampton, Iowa. I am a recent subscriber to the Iowa Writer’s Collaborative. I met Julie Gammack when my husband was in the Iowa Legislature in the 70’s. She brought a puppy to New Hampton as a baby gift for our one and only child, Cara Kennedy Ode about 50 years ago. I love to write and recently published my memoir, entitled Someday I Will. I am an avid Democrat and have enjoyed Julie’s emails and reading about people like me across Iowa.
